There is a lot of discussion whether old is better than new. Today farmers are using pesticides and machines with their crops and thinking that the amount of crops is better than the quality. Many organic farmers still use old techniques to make the crop the best they can be. People today use machines that are not helpful for the long run just like the Pilgrims.
The English didn’t know how to evolve to the New world. They didn’t know the climate was so cold and the techniques they were using were not as useful as they thought. The English were mainly struggling with the crops. When the English made a treaty with Massasoit they received Squanto as a gesture of friendship. Squanto helped the English with how they grew crops and shared his Native American skills. Squanto shared his wisdom on old techniques that were more useful than modern techniques. One technique used was putting fish in the soil near the crops. This gave the soil more nutrients helping the different crops to grow.
The English used modern tools and techniques that weren’t helpful in the new world. The English used techniques that weren’t better in the long run.
Just like the Pilgrims, some farmers today are using old skills and tool. Organic farmers are getting quality goods. They are staying away from pesticides and machines. Organic technique are better for both the crops and the environment.
Both Squanto and organic farmers are using traditional techniques
